These simple steps will help you get into position properly, know how to breathe through repetition, and take your dumbbells down safely:
- Set your bench to a nearly upright position, tilt the seat
- Utilize your knees to help raise the dumbbells into position at your shoulders
- Focus your eyes on something stationary
- Bring your feet back for stability
- Breathe in through your nose before you lift, exhale through your mouth as you push up
- At the end of your reps, bring one dumbbell down at a time
- Turn dumbbells inward toward your chest, then lower them to your knees, and stand
