Former D1 Training Coach and Vanderbilt QB Diego Pavia Sets the Season on Fire Early On

It’s one thing to start the season off as the SEC Offensive Player of the Week in your debut week as a Vanderbilt Commodore, but to follow it up with a shutout in week two certainly sets the stage for the season.

Diego Pavia is making a difference for the Commodores offence. In game one of the season against Virginia Tech, he completed 12 of 16 passes for 190 yards, which led to a 34-27 win in overtime. This week, the Commodores shut out Alcorn State 55-0. Diego’s stats for the season are 22 of 29 for 273 yards.

“We got all we need in this locker room,” said Pavia in a post-game interview, “but we need to keep improving.”

Pavia previously played for New Mexico State, moved to Nashville to play for Vanderbilt, and spent some time coaching at D1 Training West Nashville over the summer. D1 facility owner, Joe Stanford, said, “He played a hell of a game. It was fun to watch.”
