D1 Daily is a curated list of anecdotes and links with an eye towards training. The suggestion box is open.

Before its grand opening on July 19, D1 Southern Colorado found itself on KRDO News for a unique offer for athletes.

The location recently committed to giving 13 local high school athletes, who are committed to giving back to their community, free personal training for a year.

The deals total roughly $40,000 given back to the community.

Owner Chris Carr was a former Division II football player and learned about the importance of community through those experiences.

"We're not looking for the best athlete," Carr said. "We are looking for athletes of character that are going to fulfill our character words that are up on our walls."

To further add to that, D1 Southern Colorado offers free community classes every Saturday.
