D1 Training Launches D1 Verified To Bring Trusted Performance Testing To Athletes Nationwide

Athletes have long relied on self-reported 40-yard dash times, vertical jumps and other performance metrics when sharing their abilities with coaches and recruiters. Beginning July 6, D1 Training is introducing a new standard designed to bring credibility and consistency to those numbers.
D1 Verified is D1 Training's new athlete testing and verification platform that provides coach-certified, standardized performance testing and recruiter-ready athlete profiles. The system replaces inconsistent self-reported numbers with verified data collected using standardized protocols across every D1 Training location.
"D1 Verified is our umbrella for everything related to athlete testing and assessment," said D1 Training founder and CEO Will Bartholomew during the official launch. "Whether it's your times, your measurements, your scores or your ratings, it all falls under one system: Verified."
The platform was developed over the past 18 months with a simple goal: give athletes, parents, coaches and recruiters performance data they can trust.

Raising the Standard for Athlete Testing
Self-reported testing numbers have become a common challenge throughout youth sports and recruiting. Athletes often record times or measurements under different conditions, using different equipment and varying standards, making it difficult for coaches to accurately compare prospects.
D1 Verified was built to solve that problem.
Each athlete completes a standardized testing battery administered by a D1-certified coach. The process includes identity verification during check-in, standardized testing procedures, photo and video documentation, home-office review before results are released and ongoing quality assurance that monitors for statistical outliers across the D1 network.
"We created D1 Verified because there was a problem," said D1 Senior Director of Coaching Clif Marshall. "For years, inaccurate measurements and inflated testing numbers have hurt athlete credibility and trust."
Marshall has seen the issue firsthand throughout his coaching career at the high school, collegiate and professional levels.

"I can't tell you how many athletes believed they ran a 4.4-second 40-yard dash until laser timing showed they were actually much slower," he said. "Verified data matters."
Built Around Standardized Performance
The initial rollout focuses on high school football athletes, with testing modeled after the NFL Combine.
Athletes will complete verified body measurements, including height, weight, wingspan and hand size, before moving into performance testing that includes:
- Laser-timed 10- and 40-yard sprints
- Pro Agility Shuttle (5-10-5)
- Three-cone drill
- Vertical jump
- Broad jump
- Bench press or push-ups
Results are compiled into a five-star rating system benchmarked to college recruiting standards.

Every athlete also receives a public D1 Verified Profile, allowing them to securely share verified results with parents, coaches and college recruiters while tracking improvement over time. Athletes can also compare their performance against others by age, position and state.
Every Athlete, Every Sport
While D1 Verified provides athletes with trusted data, Bartholomew believes it can eventually become a nationwide benchmark for athletic performance.
"My vision is that someday D1 Verified becomes as recognized in sports as the ACT or SAT is in academics," Bartholomew said. "Just as students take standardized tests for college admissions, athletes will come to D1 to establish verified performance data."
The long-term vision extends well beyond football. D1 plans to expand the platform into additional sports, foundational athletic testing and adult performance in the future.

"Our vision is simple," Bartholomew said. "Every athlete. Every sport."
Turning Testing Into Development
Marshall emphasized that D1 Verified is designed to do more than generate scores. Every test creates a roadmap for future improvement.
"The testing isn't the finish line—it's the starting point," Marshall said. "Athletes see where they stand, identify areas they can improve and come back to train with us."
To ensure consistency across the country, every D1 coach administering D1 Verified testing completes specialized education modules covering standardized testing procedures, proper drill instruction and best practices for helping athletes improve their results.
Marshall believes that preparation can make a significant difference before athletes attend showcases and recruiting camps.
"I've always said athletes either go to exposure camps to get noticed, or they go there to get exposed," he said. "If they don't know proper technique or how to perform the drills correctly, they're not giving themselves their best opportunity."
The Future of Performance Testing
Bartholomew believes D1 Verified represents the next evolution of athletic performance measurement and aligns with D1's mission of helping athletes maximize their potential.
"D1 Verified is built on three principles," he said. "Real performance. Verified results. Official data."

As the platform launches nationwide, D1 Training hopes those principles will become the foundation for a new standard in athlete testing—one built on trust, consistency and measurable development.
