Coach's Corner: D1 Training's Clif Marshall On Two Key Workouts To Add Explosiveness | D1 Daily

The NFL Scouting Combine and college pro days are the ultimate test of athleticism for future NFL athletes. As part of D1 Combine Training, I've been training over 20 athletes at D1 Cool Springs in preparation.
Here are two movements that help them perform their best in front of NFL scouts:
Chain-Resisted Sprints
The 40-yard dash is one of the most important drills at the combine, and it's very important for the athletes to be as explosive as possible. The chain-resisted sprints train athletes for the most crucial part of the 40: the get-off.
The 40 isn't just about pure speed, it's about technique, and the chain-resisted sprints develop the athletes' running form. It focuses on explosiveness, pushing off the turf and optimal body position.
Reverse Medicine Ball Throw
The reverse medicine ball throw is the best way to teach triple-extension, and its beauty is in its simplicity.
It teaches explosiveness in three phases: the ankles, hips and knees. These three movements are vital to any athlete, and translate across any sport or workout.
Train movements first, then train the muscles.
