Check out Founder and CEO of D1 Training Will Bartholomew’s appearance on The Pure Athlete podcast, which went live on Wednesday.
On the podcast, which focuses on youth sports, Bartholomew discussed how playing football at the University of Tennessee led to the creation of D1.
“When you’re going ‘I want the stars and I want the hype,’ people don’t want that,” Bartholomew said. “People want grit. They want somebody who’s going to go in and do the work. When I look back, that’s kind of the way it played out for me.”
The interview follows the announcement of a partnership between D1 Training and Pure Athlete to strengthen support for families and young athletes. One of Pure Athlete's partners and hosts is Jeff Francouer, former Major League Baseball player who most notably spent time with the Atlanta Braves and New York Mets.
For Bartholomew, having this support for young athletes is key to their success in athletics and life.
“We want to inspire and motivate athletes to reach their goals. We’re not in control of where they end up,” he said. “But we’re in control of them having goals and having a great belief system to get to those goals and building some habits that are going to serve you the rest of your life.”
