After helping the Vanderbilt Commodores during their historic 2025 season, defensive lineman Zaylin Wood has his eyes on the NFL, and the NFL has eyes on him.

Wood has been in the D1 Combine Training program, led by Clif Marshall, with a plethora of NFL prospects in preparation for pro days, and it's clear his hard work paid off. Marshall, in turn, is the first to highlight Wood's success.

The NFL-Worthy Numbers

Though not invited to the NFL Scouting Combine, Wood was not deterred. He put up numbers that would have competed with anybody at the combine, and would have landed in first in many drills.

Here's a rundown of his jaw-dropping pro day and how he would have ranked among defensive tackles at the NFL Scouting Combine:

  • 4.69 40-yard dash (1st)
  • 9'8 broad jump (1st)
  • 4.4 pro agility drill (1st)
  • 7.4 L-Cone (1st)
  • 30 reps on 225-lb bench press (2nd)

At 6'0, 280 pounds, he's drawn comparisons to future hall of famer Aaron Donald, and with these numbers it's easy to see why. Donald ran just 0.01 seconds faster in the 40 and had the exact same broad jump at the combine.

The explosiveness isn't just in the drills; Wood showed it on the field as well.

He even picked up his third career interception this season, highlighting his instincts and football IQ.

Wood's hybrid style defensive line play is a growing trend in the NFL, and he would fit in on any roster.

Wood joins Navy's Landon Robinson as D1 Combine Training athletes to show out during their pro days, along with others in the program.
