D1 Training’s Summer Athlete Webinar Series is officially underway, adding a mental-performance component to the brand’s 9-week Summer Athlete training program.

The exclusive Wednesday webinar series is designed to help athletes develop the mindset, habits and discipline needed to maximize their potential both on and off the field. The first session, titled “What It Takes to Be a Great Athlete,” was led by D1 Director of Coaching Jason De Melo and set the tone for the summer ahead.

The opening webinar focused on what D1 calls the “Big Three” pillars of elite athletic performance: consistency, coachability and mental toughness.

One Measurable Goal

According to De Melo, consistency is about showing up and putting in the work even when nobody is watching. Coachability centers on accepting feedback and using it as fuel for improvement, while mental toughness helps athletes respond to adversity and turn setbacks into opportunities for growth.

The session also featured a goal-setting workshop designed to help athletes turn vision into action. Rather than setting vague aspirations like “getting better,” participants were challenged to create one specific and measurable goal for the summer, giving them a clear roadmap for progress throughout the program.

The webinar series is intended to complement the physical training athletes receive during the 9-week program by emphasizing the importance of mental clarity, focus and preparation.

Build During The Summer

D1 officials say the goal is to ensure athletes become more strategic competitors while continuing to build strength, speed and confidence through summer training.

The weekly webinars will continue every Wednesday throughout the summer for athletes enrolled in the program, reinforcing the message that athletic excellence requires as much mental discipline as physical effort.
