NBA Legend And D1 Ambassador Chris Paul Retires After 21-Year Career In Basketball | D1 Daily

After 21 seasons of NBA basketball, Chris Paul has called it a career.
The point guard was the fourth overall pick in the 2005 NBA Draft, 2005-06 NBA rookie of the year, named to 12 all star teams, 11 all-NBA teams, nine all-defensive teams, the NBA 75th anniversary team, and led the league in assists five times and steals six times.
Paul is one of the most decorated players in the history of the NBA. He is also a passionate ambassador of D1 Training.
He opened D1 Training Winston-Salem in North Carolina in 2015, the same city he played his college ball at Wake Forest University, and about 10 miles from his hometown of Clemmons, North Carolina.
“Here, it's all about a family,” he said shortly after the facility's opening. “Everything I've done since day one when I was a kid has been about family.”
Although Paul is done with professional basketball, he isn't leaving his D1 team behind. Just a few months ago, he emphasized the importance of having a team post-retirement, and how D1 can fill that gap.
“I think the biggest thing guys miss when is being a part of a team. That's what everyone wants to be a part of," he said. “I think a lot of the things you look forward to with a team is you want people to push you.”
Congratulations to Chris on a historic career! Thank you for your support of the next generation of D1 athletes, we wish you all the best in retirement.
