A Pair Of NFL Defensive Backs Prepare For Training Camp At D1 Frisco: 'They Chose Us' | D1 Daily

With NFL training camps just around the corner, D1 Training Frisco coaches Brycen Alleyne and Ephraim Kitchen are helping two professional defensive backs get ready for the next step in their careers.
Coach E has been working with Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Melvin Smith Jr. since Phase 2 of the NFL offseason, while Brycen has trained New Orleans Saints defensive back Elliott Davison since March. Smith trains at D1 Frisco two to three times a week, while Davison is in the facility four days a week as both athletes prepare to report to training camp at the end of the month.
Smith signed with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in 2025 after a standout career at Southern Arkansas, where he earned multiple All-American honors and twice was named First Team All-Great American Conference. He enters his second NFL season looking to build on a strong first year in Kansas City.
Davison, a former standout at UTSA, signed with the Saints following the 2026 NFL Draft and is preparing for his first professional training camp. The Tyler, Texas, native relocated to the Dallas-Fort Worth area for his first NFL offseason to train with Brycen at D1 Frisco.
According to Brycen, both players are in Phase 2 of their offseason programs, with workouts centered on conditioning, speed, position-specific drills and maintenance work to ensure they're in peak shape when camp begins.
"Their goals are to be as prepared and in shape as possible going into training camp," Brycen said.
Brycen joined D1 Frisco in the summer of 2024 after six years in sports performance coaching and four years as a high school strength coach. He was promoted to Head Coach in January 2025 and General Manager later that year. Coach E began his career as an intern with Georgia Southern Strength & Conditioning before training athletes independently in Mississippi. He joined D1 Frisco in the spring of 2025.
For Brycen, having NFL players choose D1 Frisco speaks to the culture the coaching staff has built.
"Knowing how saturated the Frisco/DFW area is with elite athletes and other high-level sports performance facilities, it confirms the results and culture that comes out of D1 Frisco and the coaches in the building," Brycen said. "They could be anywhere, with anyone, and they chose us. Anyone who walks through our doors sees the work and the results."
As training camp approaches, D1 Frisco continues to provide NFL-caliber preparation for athletes chasing success at the highest level.
